Private Project (Personal Exploration)

Business Context

Conceptualized to address the cognitive load that precedes planning, providing a tool focused on reflection rather than instant performance.

The Problem

Most productivity apps focus on organizing tasks, rather than helping users clarify the thoughts and pressure areas behind them. I did not need another task manager. I needed somewhere to understand why everything felt urgent.

Discovery Process

Researched reflection frameworks, journaling habits, and interface patterns that minimize distraction.

Requirements Mapped

  • Data privacy: data remains on the local device.
  • No email sign-up or tracking.
  • One-question-at-a-time intake flow.
  • Maps to view pressure areas and open loops.

Key Decisions

  • Local-first architecture using IndexedDB for storage.
  • No backend database; data never leaves the user's browser.
  • Muted, minimal color palette.

Workflow Rules

  1. User enters alias.
  2. Intake wizard asks step-by-step reflection questions.
  3. UI displays pressure areas, tasks, and next actions.

System Solution

A quiet, private browser notebook designed to reduce overwhelm.

Current Outcome & Limitations

The private prototype currently supports guided intake, life-area mapping, evidence tracking, daily actions and personal reflection.

Limitation Warning: The prototype is local-first and currently depends on browser storage. It does not yet provide cross-device synchronisation, cloud backup or a completed Weekly Reset workflow.

Lessons Learned

Local-first systems require custom state handling but provide high privacy and speed.

Remaining Work Checklist

Refine onboarding interface questions.

Next Phase Directions

Continue testing the product through personal use, improve interview-style onboarding and evaluate a privacy-conscious hybrid local and online architecture.
